What’s Your Brand?
If you are out searching for a job these days, no doubt, you are well aware of the intense amount of competition out there. So, somehow or other, you need to set yourself apart from the rest of the crowd. Being unique is a good thing. Just think about those personal characteristics that make you shine. Those features you want to emphasize make up your personal brand.
Although thinking of yourself as a product may feel dehumanizing, that’s what you need to do. Yes, you are nothing but a box of cereal or a container of liquid detergent! Why should I hire you? Marketing a product is what it’s all about.
it’s not that hard to do anymore. Not since the advent of social networking, has it become relatively easy to market yourself. Today there are so many ways to get the message out. Try blogging, web sites, YouTube, LinkedIn and more. But, first you have to figure out the message. Above all be consistent and be truthful about yourself.
