If You Need Some Business Ideas….

Some people know exactly what kind of business they wish to start.  They have a clear vision what it is going to be.  Others, particularly  in the present economic downturn, only know they are tired of looking for a job.  They see themselves not wanting to be at the mercy of the job market any longer and instead, want to strike out on their own.  Here comes the hard part.  What next?

Being your own boss, has its advantages and disadvantages.  It also has its risks.  Statistics show that  the risk of business failure in the first year is pretty high.  There are some thing s you might consider in order to minimize the risk of failure. You might  pick  something you like to do and maybe even passionate about.  You should also pick something in an area where you already possess some expertise unless it is something you can learn quickly.

If you wish to minimize financial risk, avoiding the sale of a product whether wholesale or retail might be a wise choice.  There’s no inventory to purchase and/or stockpile.  You may be able to work from home and thus your overhead would be minimal.

Don’t have any ideas? Check out your library’s catalogue and try searching using keywords, “business ideas”.  One  book I happen to like is called, “Ultimate Startup Directory”  by James Stephenson. Check it out.
